Clarence E. James Funeral services for Clarence E. "B.J." James, 75, of Jesup were held Wednesday, June 6, 2007, at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Jesup, with Rev. James Carter officiating. Interment was in Old Bethel Cemetery with military honors. He died June 3 in Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center. Mr. James was a native of Richmond County and had lived in Wayne County for the past 38 years. He was a retired pipefitter and welder with Local 150 Plumber and SteamfitterUnion of Augusta. He was a United States Army veteran and associated with Vel and B.J.'s Package Store in Jesup. He was a member of the Leon Parrish Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. James was the son of the late Robert "Pye" and Hazel James. Survivors include his wife, Vel Jones James of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ida and Larry Newman of Hephzibah, and Jenny and SGM Casey Carson of Ft. Hood, Texas; two sons and daughters-inlaw, Addison and Patti James of Washington, and Edward and Gabrielle James of Hephzibah; three brothers, John James, Tutt James, and Mac James; three sisters, Barbra Creed, Joanne Roundtree, and Betty Shirey; eight grandchildren, Whitney, Hailey, Jeremy, Joshua, Jared, Ryan, Seth, and Sage; and fivegreat-grandchildren.
Pallbearers included Stacy Thornton, Steve Jones, Gary Pierce, Roger James, Larry Wayne Cliatt, and Jeffrey Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were employees and patrons of Vel & B.J.'s Package Shop and Sidetrax Tavern.
