Tignall City Council meets, discusses topics of interest The Tignall City Council met June 13 at 7 p.m. Those present were Mayor Richard Gammon; council members Leon Aycock, Albert Huyck, and Tom Jackson; City Clerk Linda Daniel; Clyde Davis, water/ sewer department; citizen Walter Parker; and City Attorney Michael Horgan. Topics of discussion included the end of East Wooten Streets needs additional paving. The Solid Waste Management Plant Update Resolution was adopted. Horgan presented the Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations Ordinance. The status of the sidewalk grant which has been applied for, $100,000, and ChatfieldStreet to be paved this summer were discussed. The agriculture building needs a new roof. SPLOST funds will be used to pay for this. The city will take bids. The city has purchased a new trailer for the tractor to be transported on. Resumes for city clerk are being reviewed. It was discussed about house numbers in the city. The county does not enforce this in the city. A Bible study is being held in the Tignall lunchroom every Wednesday night. Past due property tax was discussed. There are only a few remaining unpaid. The council authorized the clerk to send out fifaletters.
The city is currently looking for a police officer.The chief will not be replaced at this time.
