Annie Bell McCarty Graham Graveside services for Annie Bell McCarty Graham, 89, of Washington were held Saturday, June 9, 2007, at Resthaven Cemetery, Washington, with Rev. Bob Warren officiating. She died Thursday, June 7, at Washington Manor Personal Care Home. Mrs. Graham was a native of Richmond County and had lived in Wilkes County since 1938. She was a homemaker and a retired grocery store owner and manager. She was a member of the Clifford's Grove Baptist Church and of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 5899. She was the daughter of the late William Oscar McCarty and Nora Bell Newton McCarty. During World War II she served her country by helping manufacture bomb detonators at the arsenal in Macon. She was the widow of Robert E. Haughey Jr. and William F. Graham. Survivors include a son, Bob Haughey, and his wife Ann of Washington; two granddaughters, Courtney Haughey and Kaitlin Haughey of Washington. Memorial contributions may be made to the Clifford's Grove Baptist Church or to the Ficklen Presbyterian Church.
