Walker and William Johnson treated to fishing birthday party
Walker was four years old on May 7 and William's second birthday is June 21. The front porch was decorated with oversized wooden fishing lures and bobbers and old fishing rods were placed around. The buffet table was covered in white cloths with an authentic fishing net overlay. A catfishmade by a local potter served as the centerpiece of the table. Guests were treated to a buffet of fried chicken, biscuits, slaw, chips, corn on the cob and watermelon. In keeping with the fishing theme, individual bags of goldfish were served from a fishbowl and a galvanized pail was filled with gummy worms. The boys' cake, made by their mother, was served on an old wooden cutting board. The cake was in the shape of a fishcomplete with candy wafer scales. Homemade caramel pecan crunch ice cream was also served. In addition to playing on the boys' wooden play set and in the boat-shaped sandbox, the children enjoyed "going fishing." All of the children reeled in special treats to take home as part of their favors. Mason jars with personalized fishtags were filled with goldfish and tied with red raffia and red and white bobbers. They completed the party favors.
Joining the boys and their parents for the party were their maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Bowman of Washington; and paternal grandmother, Mrs. E.B. Johnson of Danielsville. Others in attendance with Washington connections were Mrs. Ben Gold and Elias of Greenville, S.C.; Mrs. Brent Marable and Jack Durham of Watkinsville; Mrs. Jim Barry of Washington; and Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Sapp, Rosemary and Hampton, of Atlanta.
