Annual Brown family reunion held on June 2 at Pearl Oaks
Built in 1901, the house was originally the home of Young Bryan Brown and Lillie Pearl Cosby Brown and their 10 children. Today the homeplace is affectionately called Pearl Oaks, named in honor of Lillie Pearl Brown. Family and friends enjoyed a day of remembering, making new memories and, of course, dining from a vast array of picnic favorites. Second generation Brown family members present were Louise Brown Smith of Tignall and Henry and Reba Brown Pounds of Thomson. Third generation family members present were Jeanette Hanks of Valdez, N.C.; Ronnie and Barbara Kimsey of Blue Ridge; Peggy Murdock of Thomson; Charles and Elizabeth Smith of Snellville; Jon Smith of Tignall; Claude and Debbie Purcell of Social Circle; Edith Lindsey and David and Louise McClearen of Washington. Fourth generation family members attending were Eric Smith of Santa Maria, Calif., Marshall and Beth Smith of Snellville; David and Angie Bryant of Louisville; and Harry and Anita Kattegat of Grovetown.
Other guests included Mike and Kathy Fitzpatrick and Glenda Smith's aunts, Charlotte Parsons and Dorothy Blanton, all of Snellville. Also present from the Smith family was their cousin, Ed Carr and wife, Velva, of Grayson.
