Tour of near-complete convention center set for Friday
Construction workers have been busy working on the west portico in preparation for an event on June 29 at 10 a.m., when the almost-renovated Pope Center on Lexington Avenue will be the site of a "Hard Hat Tour" open to the public and hosted by Washington Mayor Willie Burns. The tour will also feature the expanded ballroom and conference room. "Tourists" will learn about the facility, what it will be used for, and how it can impact the community. During the event, Mayor Burns will announce the management company for the facility.
