Percy Taylor

Funeral services for Percy Taylor, 63, were held Thursday, June 21, 2007, at the Lyonsville Baptist Church, Rayle, with Rev. Ben K. Willis officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Wednesday, June 13.

Mr. Taylor was born in Rayle and was the son of Percy and Hattie Hanson Taylor. He was a member of Lyonsville Baptist Church while living in Wilkes County. He moved to Brooklyn, N.Y., at the age of 14 and began his career at Beth Israel Medical Center. He retired as a liaison with the New York City Board of Education. He was involved in various missions of support in the black communities in New York.

Survivors include a brother, James B. Taylor, Detroit; four sisters, Hattie Huff, Elberton, Emma Taylor and Susie Barrett, Decatur, and Theresa Howard, Brooklyn, N.Y.; three grandchildren, Tahir, Neesa and Anthony Taylor Jackson Jr. of Pittsburg, Penn.
