Brenda Morgan (Moochie) Weber is a long way from home in Wilkes County. She now lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Moochie cut lots of hair during her years in Wilkes County, but now she's cutting ground beef for roadrunners! That's right. Roadrunners - like you've seen on the old Warner Brothers Looney Tunes cartoons. She was told when she went to Albuquerque that the birds don't eat seeds or anything that birds usually eat. They eat hamburger. They make themselves at home on her deck and she feeds them. If they don't get fed, they come peck on the sliding glass doors until she comes. One morning she had the feeling that something or someone was looking at her. She checked through the house and in the living room was a roadrunner. She enticed him (or her) out with a hand full of ground beef. She put out hummingbird feeders and was enjoying a reminder of home in Wilkes County. But she discovered that the roadrunners were eating the hummers so she took the feeders down. Roadrunners don't fly but they are high jumpers and they were catching the hummers at the feeders. Everyone knows Moochie always had pretty flowers and loved growing things. She says everything in New Mexico is brown, but she has her own little container garden with colorful flowers on her deck. A picture of one of "her" roadrunners will be in next week's paper. Her brother, Winfred Morgan, told us about the roadrunners and brought pictures of them that Moochie had sent to their sister, Nita. . The Atlanta Braves. No comment. .
