Bailey-Latimer reunion to be held August 4 A Bailey-Latimer and allied families (Bell, Callaway, Leroy, etc.) reunion is planned for August 4 in the ballroom of the Fitzpatrick Hotel in Washington. An informal gathering for those arriving early will be held Friday night, August 3. First on the agenda Saturday morning will be family group gatherings in the ballroom. Scrapbooks, photo albums, family histories, recipes, quilts and other interesting items will be on display. A large group photo will be made at 11:30 on The Square. Lunch will be served at the Fitzpatrick at 1:00 p.m. After lunch there will be formal introductions of families with stories of each family. Winston Bailey and Buzzy Randall will discuss cemeteries where most of the family ancestors are buried. Several family members will discuss events which happened to their families through the years. Bob Usry, chairman of the festivities, will speak about Rebecca Latimer Felton, whose life Margaret Mitchell utilized to create her Scarlet O'Hara character in "Gone With the Wind." Cemetery tours will be conducted for those interested between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m. Families will join for dinner at the places of their choice and are urged to attend church on Sunday morning.
