      A "Back 2 School Festival" will be held on Saturday, July 21, at the Reese J. Booker Playground on Whitehall Street in Washington. The activities will begin at 4 p.m.. Five die across Georgia over 4th; GSP says traffic lighter statewide
      Five traffic deaths were reported across Georgia during the 30-hour July Fourth holiday travel period. The Georgia State Patrol also reported 806 traffic crashes and 161 injuries between 6 p.m. Tuesday and midnight, July Fourth.

GSP troopers work 8 crashes, 1 death in Wilkes last month
      State Troopers from the Washington Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated eight traffic crashes during the month of June in Wilkes County. Sergeant First Class Derrick Durden said the traffic crashes resulted in nine injuries and one traffic death.

A.H. Stephens pool sets new hours for summer swimming
      The A.H Stephens State Park swimming pool will be closed Monday-Thursday and open Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m.-5 p.m, and Sundays 1-5 p.m starting July 19 until August 1. Beginning August 1, the pool will be open only on Saturdays 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 pm.
