Ground broken for new schools site on Tignall Highway

City Councilman Rev. G.L. Avery prays over the new school site as members of the Wilkes County Board of Education follow suit. More than 100 local citizens turned out at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 2 for the groundbreaking ceremony. Many of those present took the opportunity to look over the plans for the school complex being built. The new high school and middle school will be completed in 2009 at a cost of some $22 million.
