Drugs, cash seized by authorities

Deputies from the Wilkes County Sheriff's Officeand agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency and the Richmond Co. Drug Task Force arrested three people and seized drugs, cash, and a weapon last week in Wilkes County. As a result of months of work, the officersseized some $4,500 in currency, nearly one ounce of suspected crack and powder cocaine, and a handgun, Wilkes County Chief Investigator Bud Harrison said.

Arrested in the raid at a home on Nelms Street off Harris Road were Rodney Welborn, 28; Kayla Davis, 24; and Jackie H. Davis, 40.

Welborn was charged with traffickingin cocaine and with possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. He is held on $205,000 bond.

Both Kayla Davis and Jackie Davis were charged with traffickingin cocaine and held on $200,000 bond.

The three will face the Wilkes County Grand Jury for indictment and arraignment in February, Chief Deputy Mike Sisson said.
