Filmmakers returning to Washington/Wilkes; auditions for extras set for Tuesday 7-9 p.m.
Auditions for parts as non-paid extras will be held Tuesday, July 17, from 7-9 p.m. at the Mary Willis Library. Anyone who auditioned last year will not need to audition again, said Vianlix Mestey-Schneider, director. Extras will be needed on Friday, July 20, and the following Friday, July 27. Those auditioning should wear period costume circa 1850. Men's costumes must be civilian. The bulk of the production will take place at Holly Court Inn on South Alexander Avenue, where the movie company filmed last summer. Other sites include the Macchia home on the Tignall Road, and the Abramson home on Newtown Road. Filming will start next Thursday, July 19, and continue on through July 31. Traffic will be detoured around the production locations to keep the sounds of modern traffic from becoming part of the film, which is set in 1850. Residents in the area of South Alexander Avenue and East Liberty Street have been given the filming schedule to know when their streets will be closed to traffic. Some days will see only a brief interruption in traffic, while other days, like Saturday, July 21, Tuesday, July 24, Wednesday the 25th, and Thursday the 26th, will see the streets closed most of the day. Detours will take traffic around the area. Traffic will also be detoured around the Tignall Road between the two bypasses on several different occasions, including all day on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28. The road will also be blocked late Friday night, July 20 and late Sunday night, July 22. On Sunday morning, July 22, flagmen will control traffic on the Newtown Road between Bridges- Anthony Road and Jane Hill Road as the movie production company films at the home of Doug and Susan Abramson.
The cast and crew will meet the public and sign autographs at a get-together July 29 at Holly Court Inn.
