Tiger grad Trey Berry earns scholarship from Wal-Mart/Sam's

Richard Trey Berry, a 2007 honor graduate of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School, was awarded a $1,000 Sam Walton Community Scholarship by Wal-Mart/ Sam's Club, Inc.

The Scholarship, payable over one year, is awarded to deserving college-bound high school seniors, or students who have obtained a GED certificatebetween August 1, 2006 and June 30, 2007. "We are excited to recognize this outstanding student and to help to fund his college aspirations," said Cindy Nelson, Wal-Mart manager.

The Sam Walton Community Scholarship is one of three types of scholarships supported by the company to assist associates as well as the general community with college-related expenses. Winners were selected based on financial need, academic records, ACT/SAT test scores, extracurricular activities and community involvement.

Berry plans to attend the University of Georgia in the fall.
