Sarah J. Mayes Williams

Funeral services for Sarah J. Mayes Williams, 69, were held Saturday, June 30, 2007, at Mulberry Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Robert L. Crawford officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died Tuesday, June 26, at Trinity Hospital in Augusta.

Mrs. Williams was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late David and Sarah Mayes.

Survivors include her husband, John L. Williams of Augusta; four children, Ronnie L. Hornsby, Walter Hornsby, and Charlene Bell, all of Augusta, and Diana H. Jenkins of Hephzibah; step-children, Ronald Williams, John L. Williams and Belinda Lawrence; three sisters, Laura Bell Kennedy, Lucinda Tutt, and Gennette Porter; three brothers, David Mayes Jr., Henry Mayes, ad Charles Mayes; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Edward Mayes, Boise Harris, Gary Mayes, Walter Kennedy, James Stone, O'neal Brumson, and Leon Tate.

Davenport & McLendon Mortuary Inc. of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
