Broun's upset of Whitehead not confirmed until recount

Wilkes County and all of U.S. Congressional District 10 is waiting for the results of this week's recount to see if Dr. Paul Broun has truly pulled off an apparent upset in the runoff race with former Georgia Senator Jim Whitehead to fillthe seat of the late Charlie Norwood.

While Broun won 13 of the district's 21 counties, the 388-vote margin was so close that an automatic recount is mandated. That recount was not complete at press time.
