Lawson Owen celebrates birthday with family, friends

Lawson Owen, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Owen III, celebrated his third birthday on June 25 and celebrated on two occasions.

On his birthday, Lawson was treated to a birthday breakfast at Myrtle Beach with family and friends. After arriving home that evening, Lawson was treated to his favorite meal and was given a miniature cake with a "3" on top.

On Saturday, June 30, Lawson celebrated with a Thomas the Train party at his home. The party theme was complete with Thomas the Train, Sir Topham Hatt, railroad tracks, bridges, crossings and Thomas the Train confetti placed on each table. Balloons were placed on the birthday boy's chair.

The guests enjoyed a backyard cookout. Hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings, coleslaw, layered salad, baked beans and chips were served. After dinner homemade ice cream and his Thomas the Train along with an attached train car cake were enjoyed by all. Lawson gave each of his friends a Thomas the Train goodie bag.

The children loved playing several activities that included swimming in the pool, jumping on the trampoline with a sprinkler underneath, playing on the swing set and slide while water was spraying, throwing foxtails, playing volleyball, playing stick the number one on Thomas the Train while blindfolded, and riding on Lawson's John Deere tractor and four wheeler.

Celebrating with Lawson and his parents were his brother, Addison; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Mathews of Rayle and Mr. and Mrs. John Owen Jr. of Elberton; uncle and aunts, Mr. and Mrs. Brian Mathews of Rayle and Mrs. Eugene Hagood of Elberton; cousins Heather Hagood and Dylan Owen, also of Elberton; and friends, Mr. and Mrs. Shane Gunter and Ty of Washington, Mrs. Bob Scott and Morgan, and Jessica and Caitlin Fleming of Elberton.
