Methodists to sponsor Hart in concert here September 22 Christian singer Melanie Hart will be in concert on The Square in Washington Saturday, September 22, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. sponsored by First United Methodist Church in Washington. Local artists Carla Thaxton Brown and Michael Moore will open the concert. Melanie Hart and her husband Jim have been missionaries in the former Soviet republic of Georgia. She became the music leader for the Tbilisi International Church Fellowship and has had the opportunity to minister in music to audiences representing dozens of nations. In the former Soviet republic, she said, God gave her a new passion; to be a voice in the wilderness in a part of the world where contemporary Christian/Gospel music style is "a New Thing," and through such, a communicator of the gospel through song.
Produced in a Georgian studio, her debut album "A New Thing" features 12 of her own inspired songs, a variety of arrangements and meaningful lyrics, woven together with a passion for its message.
