Highway to Hell
Here's the thing, with the exception of a few, so much socalled Christian television comes up mighty shy in my book. One preacher used to call the television "the 21-inch sewer system." Now he says that he calls it the "one-eyed monster." For every one second of good on television there's one hour of garbage. Amen! One man said, "Well, if you don't like it then turn it off or throw it out!" I guess that's good advice. Now, back to the internet. It is proudly being called the information highway and we are already so informed until we are confused. We've gone into over kill. The only thing worse than not enough information is too much information. "That's too much information for me," they say. And further, what's wrong with just an old-fashioned information newspaper, but we are in such a hurry now that we don't take time to read any more. This information highway is littered with trash. I know that there is a lot of good on there, but that information highway has become the highway to hell for some -- addicted to these chat rooms and addicted to the porno and just plain addicted to the internet, period. Marriages and homes are broken up because of some of this addiction. Children, instead of being assigned chores to do around home, spend endless hours on the internet and let me tell you that most are not surfingfor Christian stuff. You can be assured of that. Now, all this talk about the internet and television leads me to this thought: maybe, just maybe, as some say, "Those nutty Amish people," might not be so nutty after all, because at least they are not hooked on the high tech craze that is leading down a road that costs more and more of our precious time and money.
The more we buy the more we need. Before you get through paying for this, then you need that. Considering all the good, it still comes at a very high price. We as Christians need to stay focused on the highway to Heaven and you don't need the internet to get there. All you need is the Heavenly road map and it's proudly called the good book.
