Blackmons celebrate 60th anniversary with family party

The home of Steve and Eleanor Blackmon on North Alexander Avenue was the scene of a family house party over the weekend honoring the couple's 60th wedding anniversary.

The couple was married June 25, l947. All the family could not be together for an extended period of time until last weekend so any earlier festivities were postponed.

On Friday evening all enjoyed a swimming party and picnic at Washington-Wilkes Country Club.

Saturday evening the family gathered for a special celebratory dinner at The Fitzpatrick Hotel. Joining them for the occasion were family members, Norma Alice Blackmon Wallace and Harris and Glenda Blackmon.

All four of the Blackmon children and families were in Washington for the event. Present were Myra Blackmon and Tom Holland, Rich and Sarah Johnson and Amelia, the Blackmons' great-granddaughter, all of Athens; Steve Blackmon Jr. of Nashville, Tenn.; Phillip, Carol, Leah and Bradley Blackmon of Columbus; and Jeffrey, Anna, Ben and Julia Blackmon of Littleton, Colo.
