Frank Callaway Funeral services for Frank (Jabbo) Callaway, 81, of Washington were held July 19, 2007, at Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle, with Rev. A.J. Richardson officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died July 13. Mr. Callaway was a native of Wilkes County and was the son of the late Lizzie Sims and Willie Callaway. He received his elementary education in Wilkes County and was a member of the Clifford Grove Baptist Church, Rayle. He sold vegetables on The Square in Washington for many years and was affectionately known as "The Vegetable Man." He was married to Inette Callaway. Survivors include a daughter, Mary Pearl Cullars and her husband Thomas of Rayle; a son, Frank Callaway Jr. and his wife Sheila of Temple; a stepson, Willie Danner of Washington; a sister, Juanita Lester of Orangeburg, S.C.; a brother, Clifford Sims of Atlanta; and a grandson, Nija Callaway of Temple. Pallbearers included Charlie Burgess, Tommie Martin, Johnnie Perlotte, Willie Porter, Tom Richardson, and Willie Young.
McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
