Forrest Turner

Graveside services for Forrest Turner will be held Thursday, August 2, 2007, at 1 p.m. at the Fishing Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Roy Cates and Rev. Ficklen Guin officiating. He died July 29 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Augusta.

Mr. Turner was a native of Columbia County and was the son of the late Henry Lee Turner and Lizzie Mae Guin Turner. He was the widower of Margaret Lucille Morgan Turner and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Grovetown. He was a retired welder and had served as a sergeant in the United States Army during World War II.

Survivors include three sons and their wives, Forrest Jr. and Dale Turner, Alamogordo, N.M., Henry Lamar and Rebecca Turner, Grovetown, and Steve and Pat Turner, Appling; fivegrandchildren, Terra Turner (caretaker), Jennifer Wimberly, Tammy Turner, Henry Turner Jr., and Tish Brighurst; and two great-grandchildren, Ty Turner and Hannah Brighurst.

Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington is in charge of arrangements.
