Director tells about Wilkes EMS
      Blake Thomson, director of the Wilkes County EMS, was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Washington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, August 7. Thompson gave members an overview of the history of the EMS in Wilkes County, its current operations, and he spelled out his goals for future service.

GSP Post 17 troopers investigate 9 crashes for July in Wilkes Co.
      State Troopers from the Washington Post of the Georgia State Patrol investigated nine traffic crashes during the month of July in Wilkes County. Sergeant First Class Derrick Durden said the traffic accidents resulted in eight injuries. There were no fatalities.

      Mark Munns, Georgia Forestry Commission District 3 Ranger, spent a total of seven weeks in South Georgia during the recent wildfires.Munns is the Safety Officerfor Georgia Forestry Commission Type 2 Incident Management Team. His task included being responsible for safety of all personnel on fire.
