66-pound melon 'was real sweet'
Roy Blackburn (pictured) and his father, Luther Blackburn, grew this 66- pound watermelon off Highway 79 near Lincolnton. "It was good eating," Luther said, "real sweet." Another watermelon, a 35-pounder the two men grew, won 3rd place at last week's Tom Watson Watermelon Festival in Thomson.
