Blood drive set for Thursday, Aug. 16 at First Methodist

The Washington-Wilkes Community Blood Drive will be held Thursday, August 16, from 2 to 7 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church at the corner of Spring and Liberty streets. The drive will be held in the fellowship hall.

Shepeard Community Blood Center will be conducting the drive on behalf of the Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary which has sponsored the drive for 26 years. Members of the Auxiliary will be assisting throughout the drive.

Not only will all donors receive a T-shirt, they will also have the chance to win one of 15 $40 gas cards or one $150 VISA card.

All types of blood are needed, especially Type O Negative.

"Please give blood," says a spokesman for the drive. "It is the gift of life. It is something nice to do. It is what good citizens do. It is what people do who care about heir local hospitals and its patients."
