Homes needed

This is one of the many puppies at the Washington-Wilkes Animal Shelter that are available for adoption. They are sweet friendly pups that very much need caring homes.

The little female Rat Terrier in the July 19 issue of The News-Reporter is still up for adoption.

Our animal shelter has come a long way since the hard work of Cindy Bounds starting in 1988, with the help of Dr. Randy Clayton and a few others. It's one of the best animal shelters in this part of Georgia.

We have a dedicated manager in Gloria Wheatley who never slows down helping abused and homeless cats and dogs with medicine, care, and shelter, and work with rescue groups.

We need our members and our supporters. The animals need help and a home. You can sponsor a cat or dog if you can't adopt and give it a chance for a permanent home. Volunteers are needed to walk and socialize the dogs, or play with the cats.

St. Francis of Assisi wrote, "If you have men who will exclude any of God's creatures from the shelter of compassion and pity, you will have men who will deal likewise with their fellow men."

We thank you for caring. Call the animal shelter at 706-678-CATS.
