Megan Smith guest of honor at bridal shower on August 4 Megan Smith of Newtown, brideelect of Scott Kennedy of Washington, was honored at a miscellaneous shower Saturday morning, August 4, at the home of Mrs. David McAvoy. Hosting with Mrs. McAvoy were her mother, Mrs. John Yochim of Tignall, and her daughter, Mrs. Tim Echols of Washington. For the occasion Miss Smith wore a strapless black sundress with white polka dots topped with a black bolero short-sleeved sweater complemented by a corsage of daisies presented to her by her hostesses. Beautiful floral arrangements accented with greenery in tall crystal vases decorated the kitchen bar and island. The breakfast table was covered with a hand-crocheted white cloth.
Guests enjoyed a delicious brunch of fruit, tea biscuits, breakfast quiche, grits, cinnamon rolls and mini chocolate éclairs with punch. Miss Smith received a place setting of her casual dinnerware from her hostesses. She presented each hostess a piece of rustic metal garden art in appreciation of their honoring her with the shower. Twenty-five friends and family members enjoyed the occasion. Guests included the bride-elect's mother, Mrs. Marty Smith and grandmother, Mrs. Bill Smith, both of Newtown; the prospective bridegroom's mother, Mrs. B. C. Kennedy Jr., his grandmother, Mrs. Charles Saggus, and great-grandmother, Mrs. Claude Strother, greataunt, Mrs. Lewis Hall, aunt, Mrs. Gene Edwards, all of Washington; and cousins, Mrs. Duncan Johnson Jr. and Morgan of Augusta.
