Bastons honored at couples' shower at Henderson home

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Baston were honored at an outdoor Low Country Boil and Couples' Baby Shower celebrating their expected family addition, a daughter, due in September. The event was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brian Henderson on Lexington Avenue Saturday evening, August 4.

Joining the Hendersons as hosts were Mr. and Mrs. George Andrews, Mr. and Mrs. David Adams, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bennett, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Burdette Jr., Mr. and Mrs. O. A. Denard, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dinneweth, Mr. and Mrs. Roch Filipiak, Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Garrett, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Geddings, Mrs. Joe Griffin, Mr. and Mrs. Boots Gunter, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Strother.

As guests arrived, they signed the baby's book on a small table skirted in white and overlaid in pink. The table top was decorated with a bright green flower pot that held a colorful stuffed flower toy surrounded with layers of brightly-colored tissue papers secured with raffia and ribbons in a variety of colors. Small glass flowerpot votives with bright yellow tea lights illuminated the table.

Guest tables covered with white cloths were enhanced with Caribbean blue toppers and centered with similar flowerpot decorations and tea lights.

A buffet table skirted in white and topped with a pink cloth held a delicious meal of low country boil, salad and garlic bread prepared by Mr. Henderson. A side table held dessert, a tray of white-iced petit fours each decorated with a pink icing bootie.

The Bastons were presented a stroller by their hosts. As tokens of appreciation, the expectant couple gave each a Celosia plant with a message tied to the plant with pink ribbon that expressed an apology from their unborn daughter for missing the party and saying she was looking forward to meeting everyone soon.

Over 80 guests enjoyed the festive occasion. Special guests attending included the expectant paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. James Baston of Washington; also the expectant uncle, aunt and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Greg Clay, Ashley and Abby, of Macon. Mrs. Clay is the former MeLisa Baston of Washington.
