Tena's Jewelry Scholarship awarded to employee Samantha Leigh Souther

The 2007 Tena's Jewelry Scholarship has been awarded to Samantha Leigh Souther of Elberton. Souther has been employed part-time at Tena's Jewelry in Elberton since February 2006 and plans to attend Lander University in August.

The Tena's Jewelry Scholarship is given to a part-time employee of one of the three Tena's locations who is pursuing a post-secondary education. The scholarship is given by Jeana Worley of Elberton in memory of her late husband, Pat Randall of Washington.

The scholarship was founded in 1998 and was awarded to a graduating senior of Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School. Since then, Mrs. Worley has begun awarding the scholarship to a graduating senior working at the Tena's Jewelry locations in Washington, Elberton or Hartwell.

In addition to her studies, Souther is active at Woodlawn United Methodist Church, FBLA, Tri-Hi-Y, yearbook staff, ring staff, Relay for Life, and Safehouse Ministries. For the past two years in high school she was enrolled in a dual enrollment class at Athens Tech which allowed her to get some experience at Elbert Memorial Hospital. During this time she completed CPR training and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. She is the daughter of Martha Keys and William Souther of Elberton.
