North Wilkes Steering Committee working on cookbooks, festival The North Wilkes Steering Committee met last Thursday at the Tignall Lunchroom. The committee is so excited over the new cookbooks and now it is getting excited over the upcoming fall festival which will take place on Saturday, November 3. The old photo display will be even better this year, so get your old photos to Carolyn Gammon. That display was a big hit last year. Members of the North Wilkes Steering Committee are Celeste Adams, Pat Bobo, Sherry Bowers, Margie Bunch, Paula Butts, Vernilla Clark, Brooke Dawson, Margaret Fortson, Carolyn Gammon, Pat Grimaud, Gloria Harris, Eudora Huyck, Nobie Keener, Cissy Rogers, Jessie Shoemaker, Robin Turner, and Gloria Ware. You may contact any of these people to get a cookbook or get one at any of these locations: the Farmers & Merchants Bank of Tignall, Tignall City Hall, Billie Ann Smith's Beauty Shop, or E-Clips.
In these cookbooks, to distinguish the recipes between the original cookbook and the recipes from the present day committee you will see that all the old recipes are in the front of each category; also the recipes submitted long ago had all the ladies names with Mrs. and their last names. Everything was so much more formal in those days.
