We had a wonderful time at homecoming at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Sunday. It is always nice to have family and friends to come back to worship with us and enjoy the delicious food and fellowship. Rev. Donnie Walton preached a good homecoming message. We received a blessing and are looking forward to every service through Wednesday night. .We also had good attendance Sunday night. A number of visitors, including some members of Wilkes County Baptist Church, attended. .Mrs. Rick McClure and son Ryan of Tallahassee, Fla., came to spend the week with her mother, Mrs. Iris Dyson. .Lance Hopkins was honored on his birthday Tuesday, August 7, with a supper at his mother's home. Those attending the celebration were his wife Sally, her daughter, Emily Appling of Athens; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hopkins, Mr. and Mrs. Justin Turner and Harrison, all of Elberton. Lance's daughter, Lauren Boone, could not come but she made and sent his favorite strawberry cake which they enjoyed with ice cream. .On Wednesday, Iris, Nancy, Ryan and Lance had lunch at the Fitzpatrick Hotel. That afternoon they all went to Elberton to have supper with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hopkins. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Justin Turner and Harrison, Charlie Hopkins of Atlanta, and David Powell of Elberton. .Hannah Scoggins came Wednesday to visit Mrs. Evans Davis. On Saturday Mr. Bill Scoggins joined them and they went to Gatlinberg and stayed in a nice cabin in the mountains and enjoyed sightseeing. They especially enjoyed their visit to the Gatlinberg Aquarium. They returned home Tuesday. .Mr. and Mrs. Scott Blain spent the weekend at their home here. Mrs. Evans Davis went with them Friday to Dahlonega for the day. .After attending homecoming at Clifford's Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Huff of Athens and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hayden and Philip visited Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer. .Mrs. Evans Davis and Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer were among the many friends and family who attended the memorial service for Pete Stevens at Hopkins Funeral Home Saturday afternoon. .James Lance and Keeley Sarringer were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Lance for lunch Sunday. .Mr. and Mrs. James Sherrer went to Lord and Stephens Funeral Home in Danielsville Wednesday night for visitation for Pat Paul of Carlton.
