Clarificationof report's intent A report in last week's edition of The News-Reporter may have been interpreted by some to indicate that Alexis Dewayne Haywood was known to have beaten and kidnapped the mother of his child. He was not. He was arrested and charged with those and other crimes as reported, but at the time of the report was merely the lead suspect. The News-Reporter's report pointed out that Haywood had "apparently" committed the described crimes as outlined in a statement by the Bibb County Sheriff's Department. Those descriptions, the report said, were the result of "evidence and testimony." Haywood's innocence or guilt will be determined by due process of law.
The News-Reporter regrets any misunderstanding and sincerely apologizes for any confusion the report may have caused.
