Clemon Albert Thigpen

Funeral services for Clemon Albert Thigpen, 79, of Thomson were held Sunday, August 12, 2007, at Second Baptist Church with Dr. Ron Drawdy officiating. Interment was in Savannah Valley Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Thigpen was a native of Glascock County, but lived most of his life in McDuffie County. He was the son of the late George Thigpen and the late Mary Lou Hobbs Thigpen. He was a United States Army veteran during the Korean Conflictand served in Germany. He was a retired farmer and the owner and operator of Thigpen's Service Station for 39 years. He was a member of Second Baptist Church, the Woodmen of the World, and a member of the VFW for more than 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Waistel Thigpen of Thomson; three sons and their wives, Walley and Brenda Thigpen, David and Bettie Thigpen, Lynn and Susan Thigpen, all of Thomson, and George Thigpen, Moorsville, N.C.; two daughters, Brenda Wilkerson, Thomson, and Charlotte Waller and her husband Charles, Washington; three sisters, Ammie Ree Mauck, Warrenton, Agnes Garnet, and Georgia B. Reese of Camak; 10 grandchildren; and one greatgrandchild.

Pallbearers included Ben Thigpen, Christopher Thigpen, Phillip Wilkerson, Adam Thigpen, Matthew McEver, Brandon Waller, Josh Smith, Terry Reese, and Joey Tuten.

Memorials may be made to United Hospice, 620 Ponder Place, Suite A., Evans, GA 30809; Second Baptist Church or the American Cancer Society.

Beggs Funeral Home of Thomson was in charge of arrangements.
