Altenese Latrice Walton, Jeremiah Durand Samuel united in marriage at Gibson Grove Baptist Church
The bride is the daughter of Leo and Barbara Walton of Washington. The bridegroom is the son of Augusta and Dorothy Samuel of Greensboro. Vows were spoken before an altar decorated with a large center arrangement of wedding flowers in a tall ceramic white vase flanked by silver cathedral candelabra and ferns. Tulle with lights and silver lame were draped in the background. The unity candle was to one side. Greenery and candles adorned the windows. Pews were marked with silver chiffon bows and greenery and six had additional lights. Lighting candles were Juan Jackson and Dominic Skerrit of Atlanta. Memorial candles were lighted in loving memory of Henry and Mamie Callaway, Ellis Walton, August Samuel II, Jeremiah Brundage and Charlie Andrews. Floyd Hall of Washington, pianist and vocalist, presented a program of wedding music. His selections included "Jesus is Love," "You Are So Beautiful," "You've Been Faithful" and "God Bless Our Love." Vocalist Joseph Leon Norman of Lawrenceville sang "The Lord's Prayer." Best men were Eric Ervin, Eric Ervin Jr. and Ronald Matthews of Detroit, Mich. Groomsmen were Dominic Skerrit, Zachary Norman and Juan Jackson of Atlanta, Torri Walton of Tignall, Phil Walton of Athens, Jamal Callaway and Octavious Heath of Washington. Junior groomsmen were Joshua Norman of Lawrenceville, Keenan Parker of Augusta and Phillip Walton of Athens. Rashann Parker of Augusta was matron of honor and Jessica Walton of Washington served as maid of honor. They wore long platinum halter top gowns with teardrop earrings. Bridesmaids were Monique Payne of Athens, April Skerrit of Washington, Deidra Brown of Greensboro, Jo'Shondria Slade of Tifton, and Shareika Norman, Shaneika Norman and Shaundra Norman of Tignall. They wore long tropic green halter gowns with diamond drop earrings. All carried arm bouquets of white Alstroemeria lilies and white roses with tropical blue gypsophila tied with silver chiffon bows. Junior bridesmaids, Cecilia and Mallory Young of Hickory, N.C., and Paris Grant of Atlanta, were attired in white tea-length gowns with silver adorned tulle and carried smaller designs of the attendants' bouquets. Kamryn Parker of Augusta and India Turner of Washington served as flower girls. They wore white lace and ruffleddresses and scattered flower petals as they walked to the altar. Altravious Walton of Washington served as ringbearer and Malik Norman of Columbia, S.C., carried the Bible. Given in marriage by her father, the stunning bride wore a white halter gown and flowing train embellished with sequins. Her long white pearl and sequinadorned veil fell from a pearl and diamond headpiece. She carried a bouquet centered with white Stargazer lilies edged with white roses, Monte Casino, and gypsophila. Her diamond cluster ring and the keepsake coin in her shoe were from her aunt, Mamie Norman. She had her mother's gloves and gloves from her aunt, Tina Walton. For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Walton wore a long satin ivory gown adorned with lace and sequins. The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Samuel, chose a long ivory gown and lace jacket with an accenting brooch. Their flowers were white Alstroemeria lilies and gypsophila with silver leaves and ribbon. Rachel Jackson of Washington was wedding coordinator. Wedding programs were made by Olivia Jackson of Washington. Reception Following the ceremony, the bride's parents entertained at a reception at the Washington-Wilkes Country Club. The couple was driven to the reception from the church by Andrew Jackson of Washington. Mamie Norman of Tignall and Monique Norman of Woodstock tended the guest register. Tables held centered arrangements of white hydrangeas, roses, calla lilies, sprengeri and greenery atop mirror tiles. The wedding party table before a lattice background and lighted topiary trees featured matching arrangements in tower vases. Refreshment tables displayed matching arrangements in towering vases. The three-tiered wedding cake decorated with fresh white and green flowers centered a table overlaid in white linens. The bridegroom's cake, a gift from Rachel Jackson, was a chocolate confection with his favorite car collection. Guests enjoyed a buffet of fruit, pasta, chicken salad, shrimp, roast beef, trays of ham and turkey with white and wheat rolls, nacho dip, cheese ball, chicken wings, cheese straws, pecan sandies, meatballs and punch. Also featured were a champagne fountain and wishing well keepsake. Assisting as hostesses and in serving were Tawana Binns and Jessica Jackson of Washington, Jackie Heard of Tignall, Leslie Moore and Tiffany Goss of Athens.
Music for the evening was provided by DJ Bone Kevin Fleming of Athens.
