Lady Tigers smash Fighting Irish in home opener
      The Washington-Wilkes Tiger softball team beat the Fighting Irish for the third time in the 2007 home opener on Tuesday, August 21, by the impressive score of 11-1. Nikki Freeman picked up the win, pitching four shutout innings. Cayla Gilland pitched the last three innings in relief.

      Q: Can you please tell me why NHRA Top Fuel and Funny Car owners don't like running on 85 percent nitro instead of the old rule, which was 90 percent? Why did the NHRA do this? I think the cars sounded better at 90 percent. -- Paul L.
