College Football USA Normally it takes the NFLa very long time to finally give in and adopt the superior rules of college football. After having to chase footballs all over the field between downs the NFLhas finally decided to penalize a team if a player spikes the football on a non-scoring play. The penalty will be fiveyards for "delay of game." The penalty in college football, although rarely enforced, is fifteen yards for "unsportsmanlike conduct." The Eagles posted a 10-3 record last year and are a dark horse candidate for the ACC title and an Orange Bowl bid. Former Boston College head man Tom O'Brien has moved on to N.C. State to attempt to revive the fortunes of the Wolfpack. After going 3-9 last year Chuck Amato has returned to Florida State as linebacker coach. Speaking of new coaches, Alabama's Nick Saban has almost every starter back on offense, but only four starting defenders return. The Tide must play Vanderbilt on the road in the second game of the season. This will be the week before they play Arkansas in Tuscaloosa. The improved Commodores are setting a trap for the Crimson Tide.
