Cemetery gets Scout attention
Mason Klaus, at left, directs a crew of seven Boy Scouts and fiveadults working on the Harris family plot in the School Street cemetery Saturday. The Scouts and volunteers arrived at daylight to clean up trash and help fillin depressed graves under the direction of archaeologist Joe Joseph. The clean-up project is the Eagle Scout project for 17-year-old Klaus. He recruited all the help, coordinated with the authorities, and supervised the work. On hand to oversee the project for the city -- and use a shovel -- were Mayor Willie Burns, David Jenkins, and Tom Harton. Mayor Burns said that there will be public outreach in September to locate family members of those interred in the cemetery.
