Thanks for keeping campus safe, beautiful I would like to publicly thank everyone from the city and the county who helped with the removal of the large pine tree that fell on the Washington-Wilkes Elementary School campus this past week. Thanks go out to those from the City of Washington who came over to assess any danger to power lines and to traffic on East Street. Also, to the Police Department for blocking off the area so that school buses and other vehicles were kept out of the way. Finally, a big thank you goes to those from the county who were responsible for the leveling, cutting, and hauling off of the tree. The cooperation among these groups showed why Washington-Wilkes is such a great place to be! As a school principal, the safety of my students and of everyone on my campus is of the utmost importance. Academic success can only happen when students are safe and secure in their learning environment. Again, I appreciate everyone involved for the effort they put forth in keeping the W-WES campus safe and beautiful. It is wonderful to be a part of a cooperative and successful community such as this one. Wanda Barton Jenkins
