How does Jesus test us?
TO THE EDITOR:

In the OfficeCat I read the article about the homeless person found sleeping in the church.

This, according to the article, stated that the homeless man had been found on two consecutive mornings asleep on the floor.

On the first morning police were called and the man was sent away. On the second morning police were again called and the man was told he could not sleep on the floor in the church. This was not allowed. The man was sent on his way again.

I don't consider this a Christian act. Was this man offered any help? I'm sure someone around town could have used a little help with yard work or maybe even something more substantial.

I understand that this particular church did several hundred thousand dollars on renovations a couple of years ago. Maybe some renovations need to be done on the hearts and minds of some of the people.

Or was he sent on his way because he didn't give the image to tourists some of us seem to crave.

Is our hospitality only for those who can afford it?

I sincerely hope that someone did offer this homeless person some help and some hope.

We never know how Jesus may test us.

We need to remember that.
