Wilkes County Superior Court hears felony waive jury cases in past week The results of last week's felony waive jury trials in the Wilkes County Superior Court, Judge Roger W. Dunaway Jr. presiding, as compiled by Clerk of the Superior Court Mildred Peeler, are as follows: Jeffery S. Carroll pleaded guilty to one count of felony theft by taking. He was sentenced to 10 years, with 2 years in confinement and the balance on probation. He was ordered to make restitution to Maxway in the amount of $8,649.89. Bobby Lee Quarles pleaded guilty to two counts of felony obstruction of an officerand one count of battery. He had been charged with two counts of felony aggravated assault against a peace officer,felony aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The firearms charge was nol prossed. On the first charge, Quarles was sentenced to 5 years, with 18 months in confinement; on the second, 5 years probation consecutive to count 1; and on the battery charge, 12 months concurrent. Dawone Ramone Young pleaded guilty to one count of felony possession with intent to distribute marijuana. He was sentenced to years intensive probation and 100 hours community service. Robert Crawford pleaded guilty to one felony count of VGCSA possession of cocaine; one misdemeanor count of possession of marijuana; and one count of operating a motor vehicle without a license. He was sentenced to 6 years probation with 6 months intensive probation on the cocaine charge, 12 months concurrent probation, a fine, and community service on the second charge, and 12 months concurrent probation and a fineon the third charge. Patrick B. Peaks pleaded guilty to one count of battery. One aggravated assault count and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime were nol prossed. Peaks was sentenced to 12 months probation, community service, and a fine. Peaks also pleaded guilty to felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and was sentenced to 3 years probation, a fine, and community service. Mary Morrison pleaded guilty to felony theft by taking. She was sentenced to 5 years, with 30 days confinement and the balance on probation. She was also ordered to pay restitution to the victim. Ronnie Miller pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft by receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to 12 months probation, a fine, and community service. Ravonda Sturges pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft by taking. Sturges was sentence to 12 months probation, fines, community service, and to pay restitution to Dollar General. Frankie Lee Shank pleaded guilty to one charge of violating the habitual offender law, and one count of driving under the influence. He was sentenced to 5 years probation with 90-120 days in the Probation Detention Center on the first charge. On the DUI charge, Shank was sentenced to 12 months with 15 days in confinement, a $1,000 fineand community service. He was ordered to use an ignition interlock, turn in license plates, get drug and alcohol treatment, and complete driving school. In a second case, Frankie Lee Shank pleaded guilty to violating the habitual offender law. He was sentenced 5 years probation, to be served consecutive to the prior sentence. Clarence L. Shank pleaded guilty to theft by receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to time served and 12 months probation. He was fined and ordered to stay away from "The Corner." Timothy Lee Abernathy pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession of marijuana and to allowing child to hunt without a hunter safety certificate.He was sentenced to 12 months probation, a fine, and a drug package on the first, and 12 months concurrent probation on the second charge. In a second case, Abernathy pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and sentenced to 3 years probation, a fine, and community service.
In the week's only bench trial, Kentonda Hall was found guilty by the court on one count of felony burglary and one count of giving false information to law enforcement. He was sentenced to 10 years with 8 years in confinement and the balance on probation on the burglary charge, and 12 months concurrent on the second charge.
