Doing research with radar
Georgia Department of Transportation workers (l-r) Terri Lotti, Pam Johnson, and Jim Pomfret use groundpenetrating radar to map an area near the School Street cemetery. The day-long effort last week is designed to see if any unmarked burials extend beyond the known area of the cemetery. The reflecedradio waves map patterns in soil density that indicate disturbed ground, and could indicate long-overlooked graves. The radar mapping of the area is part of the School Street Cemetery restoration project.
