Letters to the Editor
Repeated thanks just not enough

Today I learned that there are truly some very honest people left in this world. One of them is here in Wilkes County.

I live in McDuffie County and work at Wilkes Health Care Center. Today I went to the Family Dollar Store in Washington to pick up a few things. When I got back to work I discovered my purse was missing. I had left it in the shopping basket.

Needless to say, I raced back to Family Dollar, all the while trying to think of who I needed to call and what I needed to cancel.

When I got there a very nice young man and his family were coming out of the store. I must have looked frantic because the cashier was already handing me my purse and told me the young man had found it and turned it in.

I thanked him repeatedly. Somehow that just didn't seem like enough, so I wrote this letter. I didn't get his name. I wish I had, but he knows who he is, and more important, God knows.

If he reads this -- again I am truly grateful. Your act of honesty has gone a lot further than you will ever know. Kudos for Wilkes County residents.
