Area Agency on Aging sets council meeting in Augusta Sept. 12

The CSRA Area Agency on Aging (AAA) will hold its quarterly advisory council meeting Wednesday, September 12, from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the University Hospital Prompt Care Facility, 3021 Peach Orchard Road in Augusta.

The program for this council meeting will focus on Georgia's new advance directive. Georgia has a new and improved way to express health care wishes. In its 2007 season, the Georgia General Assembly created a new health care advance directive, replacing the current standard forms for the living will and durable power of attorney for health care.

During 2006, a work group sponsored by the Georgia State University School of Law, worked to develop the form. The presenters will explain the changes and explore practical ways to ensure that health care wishes are known and honored.

The public is invited to attend this free event. To make reservations, contact Jeanette Cummings at the CSRA Area Agency on Aging at 706-210-2013.
