Washington Personal Mention

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Johnson III enjoyed several days exploring the countryside and museums on their trip to and from South Bend, Ind., where they attended the Georgia Tech-Notre Dame football game. While at the game they were surprised to "run into" Washington native and fellow Tech alumni, Tim Blackmon.

Tony, Lauren and Audrey George of Scottsdale, Ariz., arrived Friday for an extended Labor Day visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ed George and family.

Mrs. Marion Newsome and Mrs. G. B. Newsome Jr. were in Vero Beach, Fla., during the holiday weekend visiting Rev. and Mrs. Jim Newsome. While there they attended the retirement party and celebration honoring Rev. and Mrs. Newsome upon their completion of their 31-year pastorate at First Baptist Church of Vero Beach.

Susan, Edward and Wesley Pope and Susan and Ed Pope Jr. met John, Katherine, Anna and Caroline Gentry of Athens in Hartwell Monday and boated to Clemson, S.C., to see Craig and Jenny Thomas of Maryville, Tenn., who were at Clemson for the Clemson-Florida State game.

Mrs. Emmett Edwards was a Sunday afternoon and Monday guest in the home of her children, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Martin in Colbert, and celebrated Labor Day at a holiday cookout at the Martin home.
