RAYLE NEWS Sardis Baptist Church enjoyed having their new pastor, Rev. Jim Newsome, bring an inspiring message Sunday morning. Monica Gunter led in the singing of beautiful old hymns with Pam Hall as pianist. Rebekah Echols and Cody Armour held Children's Church in the annex and Courtney Gunter was in charge of the nursery. Prayer meeting is held at the Echols Home every Wednesday evening at 6:30. Everyone is invited to attend Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship service at 11:00 every Sunday morning and prayer meeting every Wednesday evening. The annual barbecue for the benefit of the Philomath Presbyterian Church Restoration Project will be held Saturday, September 29, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the home of Johnny and Sue Ellen Buckman. Chicken and pork with all the trimmings will be available for $7.00 a plate. Monica Gunter went to watch the competition and support them. Becky Orr, Walker and Isabella of Lawrenceville spent Sunday afternoon with Doris and Billy Walker. Debra Sherrer visited with them. Sybil Vaughn and Betty Berry enjoyed visiting their cousin, Hazel Fleming, in Arnoldsville Sunday afternoon after attending church at Burt's United Methodist. Greg and Angela Armour, Samantha, Cody, and Hunter, and Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank, had Sunday dinner with Buck and Linda Echols. Charles and Nina Boatwright enjoyed Sunday dinner last week with Randy Boatwright and Dena and Lee. Carmen Boatwright and Brandon Echols came for supper. Ann Wideman visited Bonnie Boatwright Thursday afternoon and afterwards popped in to visit Ruth Flynt. Bonnie Boatwright went to the Senior Center Wednesday where she visited with Marian Poss. Trey Berry of UGA spent the weekend at home with his parents, Lamar and Kay Berry. John Perez, Richard Burkett, Frances Fendley and Peggy Shockley took in the Labor Day festivities in Crawfordville last Monday. Bonnie Boatwright enjoyed visiting Randy Boatwright and Dena and Lee on Labor Day. Ruth Flynt also paid them a visit. Frances Fendley accompanied Debra (Bobby) Armour to Quiet Oaks in Crawford where Debra attended a meeting and Frances visited Melvie Esco who resides at the home. Bonnie Boatwright met her sister, Martha Jones of Bogart, at Paul's Cafe in Lexington Saturday for lunch. Afterwards they visited the graves of their parents, the late Bob and Lois Smith, at Burt's United Methodist Church Cemetery. They enjoyed riding around some in Oglethorpe County and rode over to Stephens where they grew up. Dorothy Callaway spent several days in Wills Memorial Hospital this past week. Our prayers continue for her to recover completely. Sadie Simmons of Kings Mountain, N.C., Margie Rogers, Inez Moore, and Esther Dawson of Washington visited Ruby Arnold Tuesday. Mary Grace Owen of Rossman, N.C., spent the weekend with Ruby Arnold. Fallon and Gracie Roberson came Saturday and spent the night. Josh Roberson, who has been here spending two weeks with his greatgrandmother, returned to his home in Rossman Sunday. Kim Berry and Aaliya, and Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter spent Saturday afternoon with Ruby Arnold and her guests. Milton and Kay Hale of Hull also visited. Our deepest heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family of Aubrey Tyler who passed away over the weekend. He was loved by everyone who knew him and will be greatly missed by his many friends and his relatives.
