Lady Tigers pick up region win 4-1 over Putnam County Eagles

On Tuesday, September 11, the Washington-Wilkes Lady Tigers beat Putnam County's Eagles by a score of 4-1 to pick up their first region win of the year.

Cayla Gilland pitched a complete game allowing the single run on three hits while striking out fivebatters.

The Tigers big inning came in the bottom of the fifth when Lindsey Guin led off with a bunt single, Ashley Burt followed with a sacrifice bunt which was misplayed by the first baseman. Yakira Banks followed with a single to left to score both runs making the score 3-1.

The Tigers added a single run in the sixth to make the score 4-1. Leading hitters for the Tigers were Lindsey Guin (2-4), Ashley Burt (1-3), Yakira Banks (1-3), Nikki Freeman (1-4, 2b), Taylor Echols (1-3, 2b), Jaleesa Hampton (1-2), and Tiffany Bowling (1-3).
