CC Tigers improve through 3 meets with 7 more to go

The WW cross country Tigers have run in three more competitve 3.1 mile courses in area meets this season. At the Taliaferro County three-way meet on September 5, the Tiger boys placed first with most runners improving their times by over one minute.

Runners and times were: John Pope (23:48), Blake Amis (23:40), Josh McLeroy (22:45), Evan Harrison (22:43), Chase Shelton ( 22:01), Tyler Stasyshyn (20:09), Jacob Davis (20:01), and Ian Coe (18:05).

For the Tiger girls, Sarah Shouse placed seventh, SanQuela Gresham placed sixth, Angela Broom esd fourth, and Dixie Lee Trimm was second.

On September 12, the team competed in Franklin County at Victoria Bryant State Park, performing well and on Saturday, September 15, the team traveled to Athens Academy's Spartan Invitational.

Josh McLeroy came in sixth out of 119 middle school runners and among the varsity boys (115 runners) Jacob Davis (19:37) placed 39th and Ian Coe (18:13) placed third.

The Tigers have seven more meets for the season with the final home meet at Washington-Wilkes High School on Thursday, October 18, and the region meet on November 3 at Oglethorpe County.

Coach Benita Sanders is pleased with the team's improving running times and has high hopes that they will run their best times at the region meet.
