Three young men injured in DUI wreck on Columbus Granade

Three young Wilkes County men were injured early Sunday morning on Columbus Granade Road when a truck being driven by John Nathaniel Armour, 24, went off the road and collided with a tree.

Just before 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Georgia State Patrol Trooper W.M. Starling reported that Armour's 2007 Dodge 3500 pickup left the road on a curve and traveled more than 500 feet along the roadside ditch before striking two trees.

Armour was the most seriously injured and was transported to the Medical College of Georgia trauma unit where he is being treated.

His two passengers, Adam Fortson, 23, and Tracy Weber, 23, were less seriously injured. None of the three were wearing seat belts, the report said.

Armour was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with an open container, driving too fast for conditions, and with failure to maintain a lane.
