Tiger Homecoming activities set all week prior to Banks County game on Sept. 28

Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School Homecoming activities will be held Friday, September 28, at Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers will play Banks County beginning at 7:30 p.m. and the homecoming will be held during halftime.

Spirit Week at W-WCHS will lead up to the halftime homecoming event. During the week, students will participate in dress-up days.

Monday is Color Day with each grade assigned a color and the grade with the highest percentage of their color worn will win a homecoming prize.

Tuesday is Old School Day with students wearing styles from the "good old days."

Wednesday is Rock Star/Celebrity Day when students will imitate their favorites.

Thursday is Superhero Day with students and faculty hoping to spot a Superman or Batgirl around the school.

Friday is Blue and Gold Day, with head to toe Blue and Gold spirit.

There will be a homecoming parade Friday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. The parade will leave the Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Gym on Lexington Avenue, travel down Robert Toombs Avenue to Downtown Washington, and then on to Tiger Stadium.

The theme for this year is "Remember the Tigers."

"We are hoping to see old uniforms, alumni pictures, etc., displayed or worked into float themes," says Amy R. Wheatley on behalf of the week's activities.

For the first time in many years the school will host a homecoming dance. The dance is for all W-WCHS students and will be held from 9:30 p.m. until midnight.
