The beautiful flowers Sunday for the worship service at Phillips Mill Baptist Church were placed in honor of Mablean and Marshall Sherrer and in honor of Marshall's birthday. They were greatly appreciated. We hope Marshall had a nice birthday.

Phillips Mill Baptist Church is in the process of beginning a new Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) with Linda (Mrs. Dean) McDonald as director and Sherrie (Mrs. Benji) McAvoy assisting her. A WMU kick-off is planned for Tuesday evening, October 2, in the fellowship hall of Phillips Mill Baptist Church. There will be a salad supper at 6:30 p.m. This is for all interested women of the church and community. Bring your favorite salad of any kind. Please come and learn what we are all about so you can "discover the joy of missions." Tea will be provided. Since this will be the same night as deacons meeting, the ladies would like to invite all deacons who will be attending their meeting that night to attend the salad supper. Colossians 1:10 says, "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all, pleasing, being faithful to all good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God." Based on this verse, "Live the Call" is the theme for WMU this year. May all the church family be much in prayer and willing to support in ways you can. It will be greatly appreciated and you will be blessed by the Lord.

Jacqueline Nash Al-Azawi and her husband of Duluth spent Thursday night with her aunt and uncle, Howard and Dell McAvoy James. Mrs. James joined them for a nice visit with relatives, Dan and Mildred McAvoy, and Jerry McAvoy which brought sunshine to their day.

Thanks to all who attended the bridal shower Saturday afternoon for Andie Moody, bride-elect of Marc Bridges, at Phillips Mill Baptist Church in the fellowship hall. She received many nice and useful gifts, including a nice step-ladder which will be very useful since she is rather short. Whatever your part was, it was greatly appreciated.

Don't forget the barbecue fundraiser for Philomath Presbyterian Church Saturday, September 29, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. You may get tickets by contacting Johnny and Sue Ellen Buckman at 706-274-3228; Lawrence and Annette Nash or Sonny and Linda Bryan. The meal will be served at the Buckman barn, 2362 Crawfordville Road, near the middle of Philomath on Highway 22 near the church. There is a $7.00 donation for the meal. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Lee Nash Maxwell of Atlanta spent Thursday and Thursday night with his parents, Morrison and Priscilla Maxwell. His sister, Mary Jane Scarborough, and nephew Tyler joined them for supper. Friday morning he carried his mother to her heart doctor in Athens. I will have to go back in two weeks to see if changes made in medicine will make a difference in my dizziness trying to walk. I praise God for bringing me this far, but it will still be a while before thinking about using a cane, and hitting the road driving. I surely miss getting out and going and doing. We are blessed to have a caring, loving, family, although both children have a lot of patience and time and understanding at times. Please keep all of us in your prayers. God is so good. Lee also carried me by the Johnson homeplace where I grew up.

Remember God loves you.
